The mission of A Thousand Doors is to unite the human experience between patients, caregivers, and providers by teaching and facilitating active listening and learning through storytelling.
What’s the Title of Your Story?
Cancer is one big, unrelenting disease – one that fosters a thousand different stories every day. Our story is about navigating the real and profound human experience that is cancer. We do this by providing a platform for those on all sides to express their experiences, through speaking, writing, listening, learning, caring. Often, this process, this journey, reveals emotions that may not have been realized prior, and A Thousand Doors not only facilitates this unveiling but also makes the discovery authentic and impactful. The initiatives focus on active listening and learning encourages the latent or dormant emotions to surface and often inspires a cathartic revelation for those brave enough to take the first steps through the doors.
Even if you’re not certain about this process, it’s good for you—and science backs up this claim. Story telling has guided human survival for 300 millennia, even 10,000 years before we had the ability to write. Using this primal methodology to open all of the doors within the cancer experience just makes sense. Share your story: it will help heal your soul, and everyone who hears it.
